Background
BeNet is a platform created by NTNU to help interaction design and web development students prepare for their careers. It streamlines the organization of 3rd-year student internships, reducing repetitive administrative tasks by allowing students and companies to register, manage contacts, and track potential matches in one place.
This is an ongoing project, originally designed by another student, and I was brought in to improve a specific feature.
About the project
My role for the project
As the solo designer, I worked with a professor as project manager on the "Collaboration Journey" project, aimed at improving collaboration between students, mentors, and external partners.
I implemented new features, designed, and developed a functional Figma prototype. I also enhanced the structure, flow, and communication on the BeNet platform. Additionally, I organized user testing and collaborated with the development team to share insights and recommend improvements.
Problem overview
My task is to understand the client's needs by reviewing past information on their MIRO board.
The professor acted as a link between students and companies, with most communication happening through email, which led to a lot of back-and-forth. After students applied to different companies, the professor had to manually match them with the best fit.
I worked on improving BeNet's log conversation feature, which connects mentors and companies. This feature tracks changes, and I’m adding an approval step for clearer communication. Mentors and companies can both view and respond to updates. Instead of direct messages, the log automatically updates with changes, and users receive email notifications to review them.
